More than an ordinary dance studio...
The DanceArt Centers by Melisa have been serving area families since 1983. Our unique program is a tradition of talented and devoted teachers, excellent facilities and a curriculum offering the proper amount of challenge and nurturing for your student’s age and capabilities. We want to see each dancer be as successful as they can be ~ stretching their imaginations and limitations ~ always knowing that we share our knowledge and attention to help them do their best.
We offer the highest quality dance education in a noncompetitive, positive and respectful
setting for dancers of all ages. Our lessons are developed on a strong foundation
of principles that are child-
Our approach has been, and always will be, that dance is good for the body, mind
and spirit. To that end, we strive to build self confidence in each child and to
develop a strong rapport with the students, and parents. Successful weekly lessons
are as important as the year-
About Us
Melisa Charise Thideman lived an amazing 50 years that were full of love, fun, friendship, community, family, and the list goes on and on. She had an extensive dancing spirit, and found it vital to share this empowering love of dance with all she could. That is, after all, essentially why we dance.
Her dance life started at age 3, at Leo Kale’s school of dance in Madison, WI. She thanked her parents, Mick and Ardell Ladd, every chance she had for making the commitment of driving her to her weekly dance, as for them, it was a voyage from their home near Spring Green. She understood that dance was a huge part of her growth and development, and found in it a source of healing, passion, and happiness.
After she married the love of her life, Charlie Thideman, they made the move together to Tomah, WI, where they started a dance studio out of their home. Years later, they moved down the street, and built the Tomah studio we know now.
Melisa was an amazing woman, and was powerful even in her intense battle with triple negative Breast Cancer. Even then, she did not give up on her studio, her family, her students, or her message. May we all remember in the best light, as she put effort into putting her “best face forward”, as she said again and again.
Her presence will be missed, I’m sure, by all those at the studio, and especially by her family. We thank you for your sympathy in the loss of Melisa, and we hope that you all continue to “Experience the Dance.”
In Loving Memory of Melisa Thideman
